The Man, The Reflection, and The River
There was once a man who had been unlucky most of his life. He worked hard for everything that he obtained. However, his life was difficult and contentment was out of his reach.
The man went about his toils daily and his monotony continued. Until, one day his toils were rewarded with a wonderful treasure. The man was so happy that he sang and danced all the way home.
He walked along the same river that he had walked along everyday of his life. This day he because of his good fortune he stopped to admire the view of the river. When he looked long and hard he saw another treasure that was larger than his own.
The man immediately devised how he would get the other treasure and double his own. He thought a long time how he would reach the treasure. Then, he reached as far as he could for the treasure that was a little out of his reach.
The man lost his balance and fell in to the river. His treasure fell with him and was lost in the river. The man struggled back to the shore. He saw that the second treasure was also gone. It had been the reflection of what he already owned that he saw in the water.
The man lost everything he had. He lost the treasure that was in his hand, and he lost the one that was a reflection because he was not content with what he had.
