The Reflection and The Waves
A woman was standing at the edge of a lake and saw the reflection of a thing that was very far away. This seemed very curious to her. She wondered how a thing that was not there could cast a reflection. Yet she saw it.
Then she saw the waves ride upon the surface of the lake. When she looked beneath the surface she saw that there were waves moving beneath the waves on the surface. She noticed that there were waves beneath those waves also. There were layer after layer of waves moving beneath the surface.
She saw the reflection of the distant building and the waves rebounding endlessly. She knew why she could see the reflection of a thing so far away so close. She also knew why there were waves moving beneath the waves. She began to see that what she thought that she could see was only the surface, and that reality was much different then she perceived it to be.
She could see that what she thought was not necessarily what was real. And she learned that if she would only take the time to look beneath the surface she would find something new.
